While my stronghold is really around all sorts of catalyst developments including their scale up and commercial production, I’ve got a strong materials & application background in both PE and PP. While these materials have recently suffered in their public perception, they do remain very versatile materials across a wide range of applications with countless benefits for us as consumers. In addition I’ve been either operating or trialing most relevant process technologies from slurry (i.e. Innovene S, CPC/ADL, Hostalen & Matsui CX) to gas (i.e. Innovene G, Univation & Spherilene) to solution phase (i.e. Sclairtech). While I’m not a die-hard expert in all areas, my differentiation is really in the fact that I do know enough about each to understand their real pro’s and con’s which are important to make the difference. Also as I’ve been active in the whole value chain from catalyst manufacturing to resin production to licensing to plastic processing, I know how to design a product with the end in mind. Finally having both led large R&D organisations and been active as a scientist in the lab, I’m cognoscent of various pitfalls one might encounter on the way from lab to commercial in particular when it comes to innovation platforms and portfolio decisions. Besides the mere technical dimension, you’ll be able to tap into a large network of partners throughout the globe and with a very diverse set of expertise and skills. Having worked and lived across various countries and continents, not only do I embrace cultural diversity yet I’m a true believer that it leads to a better end product. Simply looking at my ratio of academic publications & patents versus commercialisation you’ll easily see that my focus has always been on the latter with over a dozen of true product platforms both resins and catalysts that have been further declined into close to 100 different end-products.
